Lymphoedema Service |
The specialised lymphoedema clinic was started at St Luke's Hospice in 2002. From the beginning we wanted to establish a broad service that met the many needs of individuals who developed either primary, secondary or palliative lymphoedema. The service also included a preventative clinic run at the local acute hospital giving advice to at risk individuals in their early post-operative phase.
The work load of the service has grown significantly in that time. St Luke's works in partnership with Central and Eastern Cheshire PCT and Macmillan Cancer Support to expand the Lymphoedema team. Macmillan Carol & Dorothy joined Clare as Lymphoedema Nurse Specialists during 2006. A Therapy Assistant will be joining the team during 2007.
The team are very keen to offer services closer to peoples' homes. The first of these clinics opened in Nantwich in January 2007.
