Tyne & Margaret
Tyne first came to St Luke's Hospice to visit patients three years ago, after she'd had a litter of puppies. Margaret felt that the puppies were getting all of the attention, and that it was time to do something where Tyne was getting some of the fuss!

Margaret contacted the Dog Warden in Chester, who put her in touch with Pets as Therapy. After undergoing testing at the vets (which made sure that she wasn't startled by loud noises, etc) Tyne got her certificate and was good to go!

This 7-year-old Golden Labrador comes into the hospice once a week to visit with patients in both Day Care and Incare. Tyne loves all of the attention (and biscuits) from patients and staff alike! Margaret tries to bring her in a different day each week so that more of the patients get a chance to see her.

Margaret enjoys her weekly visits here as much as Tyne does - "I love meeting people. And it's so friendly here - it's like family!"

If you think your pet would make a good PAT (Pets As Therapy) participant, you can get information from the Pets as Therapy website.
