Gareth Thomas has been volunteering with St Luke’s for many years. If you ever need a hand with something, we can rely on Gareth to answer our calls for help. Gareth particularly enjoys taking ownership of our ‘raffle car’. He tells his story of why he loves to volunteer with St Lukes.

“Why do you do it? It’s a question I am quite frequently asked. The easy answer is ‘Because I can’. However the reality is a little more selfish. I do it because I enjoy it. I enjoy the camaraderie, the friendships I have made, the people I have met and I enjoy the sense of achievement in putting something back into the community. Most of all is the sense of pride when I go to the hospice and see the difference my contribution (no matter how small) can make and support what St Luke’s is all about:  ’the patients and their loved ones’ .
