Come along to the Middlewich Folk and Boat Festival this weekend to see the lovely artwork that has been done by Day Hospice patients. The artwork will be on display in St Michael and All Angels Church, Middlewich CW10 9AN.

Our Care through Art programme gives people the time and space to learn to paint.  Pat Darlington, St Luke’s dedicated art teacher  has seen some wonderful changes in people who have been part of the Care through Art programme.

She has seen how it can increase a person’s sense of well-being and self-esteem and how it can divert attention from what else is going on in their lives. Parkinson’s sufferers often stop shaking while they are painting and many people find they become so engrossed in their work that they forget their illnesses for a while.

“Taking some time to look at the world around and to appreciate the beauty in everyday objects helps people to look forwards with fresh eyes and fresh perspective. Even just being in a group, relaxing and discussing art helps people step outside of their day to day concerns and provides an increased sense of wellbeing.”
