This year a few staff and volunteers took the challenge of The Gritstone Walk, the event is run by Kidsgrove Rotary whose team kindly support St Luke’s. They run different distances of walks so that the event is accessible to everyone.
Our team (Gareth, Joe, Jess and Claire) took on the 16 mile route and enjoyed a wonderful sunny day, made lots of new friends and raised around £1,500 for St Luke’s. Apart from a few tired limbs, they would recommend it to everyone.
Claire said: “It was a great way to enjoy a lovely walk in the great outdoors, whilst helping to raise funds for St Lukes, I would recommend everyone gets signed up for next year and joins in the fun, we are hoping to go the whole 22 miles next time.”
Rosemary Wharton, another supporter of St Luke’s, completed the 22 mile walk putting her younger supporters to shame, as she passed them on route in good stride, at 77 years young, she certainly is an inspiration to all and raised brilliant awareness of our services at the Outreach centre at Church Lawton as we have some wonderful support there too.
Thanks so much to the team that took part, we couldn’t keep St Luke’s open without the efforts of people like you.
