Richmond Village in Nantwich have taken St Luke’s to their heart and we are their nominated charity of the year. Nicola Tooke, Village Advisor:
“ I have close connections with St Luke’s as both my mum and dad were looked after by them. It is fantastic that we have raised this amount of money in one day and, on behalf of everyone involved I would like to thank Graham Tressider for helping us to do this by sponsoring the event.”
A fayre and balloon race at Richmond Nantwich proved to be a huge success with over £1,100 being raised for St Luke’s! Stalls including gifts and handmade crafts and jewellery tempted residents and guests whilst children were kept entertained with face painting and a Punch & Judy show. The tombola stall sold out in record time, whilst the Richmond Nantwich stall with handmade gifts made by residents and staff alike did a roaring trade. Many sat outside listening to the live music of “Street Jazz” and enjoying the delicious food and refreshments on offer, all watching as 100s of balloons were blown up ready for the grand finale. Local community radio station This is the CAT radio broadcast throughout the day and interviewed anyone who happened to walk past!
At 3.30pm precisely, 400 balloons were released by Jess Wiles-Reading representing St Luke’s and local businessman Graham Teesside who had very generously sponsored the event. Some tickets have already been returned with the furthest so far being from Leicestershire.
Alison Harding, Village Advisor said ” “We are delighted that the event was such a success. Everybody worked really hard and we were extremely grateful to all the volunteers on the day, including the lovely ladies from Richmond’s own Sports and Social Club.”
Thank you to everyone involved, we really do appreciate the support!
