My how time flies! It is one year since we opened our innovative and ever-evolving Nantwich shop known as ‘Swirly Whirlys’, and to celebrate, we are opened a very special ‘Room at the Top’.
On Thursday 10 October, scores of St Luke’s supporters and Swirly Whirlys customers packed into the Pillory Street shop to enjoy a glass of champagne and toast its unique fundraising success over the last 12 months, having donated the profits from every cup of coffee, every crepe and every gift item sold towards invaluable care at the hospice.
The special event, which saw the unveiling of the shop’s new ‘Room at the Top’ vintage clothing and gift store, raised £800 for St Luke’s, which when added to the amount raised throughout the year by kind-hearted customers, means thousands of pounds has been donated towards care and therapies for local people.
As she toasted the success of the cafe Swirly Whirlys manager Helen Giordano said:
“We were thrilled to welcome so many supporters and volunteers on Thursday to what was a fantastic celebration of our first year in business and the opening of the fabulous new ‘Room at the Top’ vintage store. As the name suggests, the new store is on the top floor of the building and offers a treasure trove of stunning clothing, gifts and furniture.”
Assistant manager Rachel Boulton-Jones added: “We’ve been delighted with the fantastic support for Swirly Whirlys from the Nantwich community so far. We are firm believers that the modern charity shop has to continue to evolve and adapt to have a place on the high street and we’re delighted to add this wonderful shop to our existing offer.
“Why not browse our Christmas gift offer and our vintage clothing before sitting down to a refreshing coffee, fabulous crepe or mouth-watering cake. This is the only shop in Crewe & Nantwich where you can directly support St Luke’s so you really can make a difference and help those people who need the care and support that St Luke’s can give. You can help local patients receive the care they need, whether that is in our In Care or Day Care units or one of the many therapies carried out at the hospice including Aromatherapy, Reflexology & Hypnotherapy and many more.”
The historic three-story Swirly Whirlys encompasses a coffee shop, a creperie, and a luxurious traditional sweet shop where children can indulge in a treat to eat, while parents can relax and also enjoy wonderful food.
