Police Community Support Officer “Spike” Elliott has raised £565 for St Luke’s on a different beat. He completed a walk of 100 miles over four days, between 16  and 19  July in the annual Nijmegen Marches in Holland. Like most of the 45,000 walkers in the event, Spike secured sponsorship for a charity. He chose the Hospice because the St Luke’s shop in Sandbach is on his town-centre beat.

“The Nijmegen event is not like patrolling Sandbach,” he said. “Each day starts at 4a.m. and you have to complete the day’s route by the end of the afternoon. Most of it is fairly flat but on the third day there are seven hills.” Included in the above amount is money raised by Spike doing a sponsored Shoe shine at Police headquarters.

Thank you Spike.
