Mark Porter Corporate & Community Fundraiser at St Luke’s visited Leighton Academy in Crewe to see how the Year 6 children children had raised money for St Luke’s.
Jo Hall, Design Technology Teacher at Leighton Academy said “The project began for the Year 6 children after they had finished their SATs and was a way of teaching them the principles of running a business whilst delivering a healthy living message and supporting a local charity. The children suggested the charities that they have an interest in and then voted on their favourite which in this case was St Luke’s. The slush machine was purchased by Leighton Academy PTFA and they have lent it to the Year 6 team for this half term to enable them to sell healthy fruit slush during Monday, Wednesday and Friday break times.”
The children Morgan, Tom & Nicholas presented Mark with £120 raised for the hospice.
Mark Porter said ” Thank you to everyone at Leighton Academy for doing this for St Luke’s I saw for myself just how popular they are proving to be with staff and pupils alike, as it was so busy with children waiting for Slush. It’s a credit to the school how well this has worked, thank you to the children for choosing St Luke’s & also to Mrs Hall who showed me around the school she is inspirational with the children and it was a pleasure to be given the opportunity to meet everyone. Finally to the Year 6 pupils from everyone here at St Luke’s we wish them all well as they embark on a new path into high school in September”
