St Luke’s is urging supporters from across Cheshire to put a brave foot forward and register for the charity’s raging Firewalk.

Brave St Luke’s Hospice supporter, Krysia Rose from Winsford has signed up for a second time to the charity’s Firewalk on November 28th from 5pm- 8pm at Total Fitness in Crewe.

The mum of two completed the Firewalk in November 2014 and has now registered for this year’s challenge. Krysia will be joined with her long-term friends Karen Scholes Lawrence and Jacqui Burgess.

Speaking about last year’s Firewalk, Krysia said: “I took part in the Firewalk and I felt really confident right up until the day. As I approached the walk, I felt physically sick and almost pulled out. However, when I saw my kids, Ash and Mikey cheering me on I knew I had to do it.

Krysia added, “Walking over the hot coals felt empowering and I still can’t believe I did it and then I was offered a second go. I couldn’t get to the front of the queue fast enough. When I finished I just felt invincible and I can’t wait to do it again this year.”

Adding, “Prior to taking part to the Firewalk I wanted to do something to challenge myself, whist supporting my local Hospice and when I read about the Firewalk I knew it was the challenge for me.”

Dr Kate Smith, St Luke’s Medical Director also took part in the Firewalk. A self-confessed sceptic, finished the walk, totally empowered and drove home with a massive smile on her face, which lasted all weekend. Dr Kate would urge others to take up this fantastic opportunity and see what difference it could make to your life, but also to the lives of the patients of St Luke’s (Cheshire) Hospice.

Plucky participants will complete a two hour motivational training session provided by Time4Change Firewalk Transformations before walking 15ft, over red-hot wood embers, reaching a scorching 800°F barefoot.

Since 2013 the Firewalk has raised more than £20,000 for St Luke’s Hospice.

St Luke’s Hospice provides care free of charge to patients suffering cancer and other life-limiting illnesses and their families across mid and south Cheshire. The Hospice needs to raise £8,600 a day to continue to provide its vital services.

To sign up to St Luke’s Firewalk costs £25 and all those taking part must raise additional sponsorship of at least £150.
