Kind-hearted David Fowles from Winsford has raised a fantastic £7,200 for our Hospice after conquering Mount Kilimanjaro in September.
In total David raised £19,000, of which £7,200 was kindly donated to St Luke’s with the remainder £10,000 going towards children’s charity CLIC Sargent and £2,200 to Over St John’s Primary School.
David Fowles said, “When I rejoined the family business Fowles Funeral Services and it was at this time I saw the amazing work from St Luke’s and I wanted to raise money for the Hospice.”
David added, “In September 2015 I set off to climb Africa’s highest mountain. I fundraised by selling corporate spots on the flag I took with me to the summit, also I held various charity events and discos nights for each charity across the country. Plus I’ve had an incredible response for donations from friends and family members.”
During the intense trek David said the generosity of people, and the love of his family and friends helped him complete the task.
Jane Thompson, Head of Events at St Luke’s commented, “We’d like to say a big thank you to David for taking on such a mountain of a challenge! The money raised will help fund vital Hospice services and care. Without the support of fantastic fundraisers like David, St Luke’s simply could not exist.”
