Courageous Hospice supporters braved the brimstone and collectively raised a roaring £6,000 for St Luke’s at the Firewalk which took place on November 28th at Total Fitness in Crewe.

Participants conquered the coals which included married mum of two Sharon Cattell from Crewe.

Sharon Cattell said, “When the Firewalk came to my attention I was like hell yeah, I want to take part and raise money for my local Hospice. I’ve fundraised for St Luke’s before, taking part in the Midnight Walk and the Santa Dash.”

Safe Guarding Manager Sharon added, “The Firewalk appealed to me because I felt it was one heck of challenge, plus not everyone can say they’ve walked across 15ft flames, red-hot wood embers, reaching a scorching 800°F barefoot.”

Adding “Waking up on Sunday morning with a smile on my face with the overwhelming feeling of knowing I had achieved something fantastic.”

Debra Sloan, Events Fundraiser at St Luke’s Hospice said, “This year’s Firewalk has been an overall success, I’d like to thank everyone who took part. As well as Cliff from Time4Change who provided a two hour motivational training session and did an absolutely fabulous job with the group.”

The group of 27 completed a two hour motivational training session provided by Time4Change Firewalk Transformations.

Since 2013 the Firewalk has raised more than £20,000 for St Luke’s Hospice.

St Luke’s Hospice provides care free of charge to patients and their families across mid and south Cheshire. The Hospice needs to raise £8,600 a day to continue to provide its vital services.
