Employees from Bargain Booze based in Crewe raised an amazing £2,500 for local charity St Luke’s Hospice.

On Saturday 26th September a cycling team from Bargain Booze set out on a 72 mile bike ride from Crewe to Llandudno. The kind hearted cyclists wanted to raise money for a local charity and chose St Luke’s Hospice.

At 7:30am event organiser Tommy Morrison and the team of fifteen set off from the Bargain Booze depot on Weston Road Crewe. The route took the team through Crewe town centre heading into the Cheshire countryside up to Tarporley. From Tarporley the team headed to Mickle Trafford and on to the Millennium Greenway cycle path towards Connah’s Quay.

From Connah’s Quay the team cycled to Prestatyn and stopped for a well-deserved lunch break, soaking up the sunshine on what turned out to be a hot late summer’s day. After lunch the team picked up the North Wales Coastal cycle path and cycled the remaining 20 miles into Llandudno arriving at 3:30pm.

Tommy Morrison said “I would like to thank the cycling team and support staff for their time and effort in making the event an outstanding success and raising £2,500 for St Luke’s. I would also like to thank our shirt sponsors Ideal Recruit, Alpha Omega Securities and Linde-Sterling for their support. All in all we had a great day and were blessed with brilliant weather which made the ride that much easier, to cycle 72 miles is an achievement in itself but to raise money at the same time, made the day extra special.”

Angela Slack, Corporate and Community Fundraiser said, “Wow what a fantastic accomplishment, on behalf of everyone at St Luke’s I’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone from Bargain Booze who took part and raised money for our Hospice. The funds raised will go towards supporting patient care and services for people in mid and south Cheshire.”

St Luke’s Hospice needs to raise £8,600 a day to provide vital care and services for people in mid and south Cheshire.
