The Bostock Singers are warming up their vocal chords, ready to battle it out for the coveted ‘Last Choir Standing’ trophy on Saturday 7th May. Eight choirs from across the region will compete onstage at the Crewe Lyceum Theatre, performing for more than just their pride as all profits will go to St Luke’s Hospice.

Shirley Almquist, who has been singing with the choir for four years, said the singers decided to take part because the competition gives them something to aim for, and it’s for a great cause.

She said, “We are looking forward to a fun evening! We haven’t done any competitions before so this is definitely something new. It will be interesting to hear from the judges how we can improve our performance.”

Although the Bostock Singers have yet to decide their final competition entry, they have lots to choose from, with a repertoire spanning gospel, musical theatre and modern pop songs.

On the night, it will be votes from the audience which determine the choir who have hit the right note and will take home the prize.

Catherine Moore, Senior Event Fundraiser at St Luke’s, said, “This is a new event for St Luke’s and we have been delighted about the response from local choirs! We are really looking forward to a fabulous evening of choral entertainment whilst raising funds for patient care.”

Tickets are available to purchase now from the Crewe Lyceum Theatre.

St Luke’s needs to raise £8,600 a day to provide vital care and support to patients in mid and south Cheshire.
