During the summer, a fundraising day was held in memory of a Winsford man whose life was tragically cut short last year.
Hannah Hill and family organised a fantastic football match in loving memory of her uncle, Paul Davies.
The event kicked off at Knights Grange and was followed by a family fun day at The George and Dragon pub in Winsford.
Following on from their successful football fundraising event last year, the family decided to take on an even greater challenge this summer.
Stalls were added, live entertainment organised and an action-packed day was provided for everyone to enjoy – even the sun made an appearance!
Support for the event was outstanding, with a whopping £7,665 raised for St Luke’s Hospice which is not only an incredible achievement but also testament to how much Paul meant to so many people.
“It was absolutely packed to capacity, it was amazing to see so many people there to support us and remember Paul.”
– Niece of Paul Davies and event organiser, Hannah Hill
Fabulous fun was had by all on their bouncy castle, face painting, lucky dip, tombola and sweet stalls. Some lucky supporters even walked away with signed football merchandise and tickets to watch Real Madrid in Barcelona!
Amanda Davies, Paul’s wife, described her husband as, “someone who embraced his illness and indeed all challenges that came his way.”
Although only at St Luke’s for a short period, Paul truly became part of the Hospice’s family. He fully immersed himself in programmes such as our complimentary therapy sessions and enthusiastically took on the fit start programme – aimed at improving health and wellbeing.
The funds raised will go directly towards patient care at the Hospice, which cares for people from mid and south Cheshire, suffering from cancer and other life threatening illnesses.
