Rehearsals are in full swing for our Last Choir Standing competition which takes place at the Crewe Lyceum on Sunday 5th February in aid of St Luke’s Hospice.
Eight regional choirs will perform in front of a live audience and a panel of judges in the hope of winning the coveted Last Choir Standing trophy. An Audience Choice Award has also been added, which allows audience members to join in on all the fun and vote for their favourite performance.
Choirs include The Nightingales NHS Choir, who meet every week in the hospital chapel to make new friends, sing together and improve their wellbeing. Three Can’t Sing Choirs from Alsager, Congleton and Sandbach who sing a variety of music from pop to jazz to gospel. Equali Ladies Community Choir, who meet every Tuesday and sing a range of choral numbers. Anima choir, who offer a fun and informal opportunity for people who love to sing. Northwich Pop Choir, who describe themselves as a fun choir rather than anything too serious and Nantwich Voices, who are a mixture of busy people, who come together once a week to enjoy singing.
Last year’s event not only raised the roof at the Lyceum, it also raised over £5,000 for St Luke’s. The amazing winners, ‘The Bostock Singers’ even decided to donate their cash prize back to the hospice.
The Nightingale NHS Choir said:
“We performed last year and had a great time meeting other choirs, raising money for St Luke’s and performing on stage at the beautiful Crewe Lyceum Theatre – we can’t wait to do it again!”.
Chase away the winter blues and enjoy a fantastic night of choral entertainment with friends and family.
