1874 Northwich FC has provided a welcome fundraising boost to St Luke’s after holding a special teddy bear raffle.

Supporters and guests attended their Christmas party at Winnington Park Recreation Club and raised an incredible £400.

The teddy bear had been donated by their late Chairman Paul Stockton who sadly passed away shortly after Christmas and had been part of his family for a number of years.

Steve Richardson who is responsible for Community Development at the club said: “We had the pleasure in organising the teddy bear raffle in aid of our charity partner St Luke’s Hospice, an incredible charity that will no doubt touch us all in some way during our lifetime. Whether it be personally or via someone close us, they really do a fantastic job at a very important time in our lives.”

“On what was a fantastic night, our magnificent supporters raised a total of £400. Every penny of which will go to the Hospice. The raffle was won by our treasurer John, who passed the Teddy Bear onto a young lady called Chloe, who will ensure that he is well looked after and given plenty of hugs” added Steve.

The club has been fundraising for St Luke’s since 2016 and has so far raised over £7,000 through various activities and events.

Angela Slack, Community Partnerships Manager at St Luke’s said: “Thank you to everyone at the club for their continued efforts and to everyone for donating. The support we have received over the past year is incredible, the club has the local community at the forefront of everything they do and everyone at the Hospice really appreciates the support.”
