Coming to St Luke’s for the first time can be daunting; we know that patients can feel scared about their illness, about their future and what the Hospice is going to be like.

Our 10 bed unit is here to support local adults who need pain and symptom control, emergency respite, and end of life care. We find that once patients are through our doors they feel a sense of calm and reassurance knowing they are in safe, expert hands.

In 1988 St Luke’s was founded on the principles of combining expert pain and symptom relief with holistic care to meet the physical, social, psychological and spiritual needs of our patients, and those of their family and friends.

Today our multi-disciplinary team continue to do this, working together to ensure we support patients and their family through a difficult journey.

“Whatever preconceptions I had about St Luke’s evaporated as soon as I stepped through the door. It was bright and welcoming, not grey and clinical – where people talk in hushed tones and no one smiles.”

Can I visit before I’m admitted?

We know that for some, the thought of being admitted as an inpatient can cause anxiety. You and your family are more than welcome to visit to see the environment ahead of time and to talk through your concerns.

If you wish to arrange a visit please telephone 01606 551246 and ask to be put through to the In-Care unit.
